Metanast returns to celebrate out third birthday by hosting a live act which is as unique as it is beautiful, at Chorlton’s Dulcimer. British electroacoustic composer and improviser Paul Pignon has been a frequent feature in the Metanast programmes with Sound Quartet. Paired with Finnish dancer and choreographer Liisa Pentti, they are bringing their jointly developed practice from Stockholm, presented through a live collaboration involving subtle movements, sounds, and visuals.
Three of our finest local noise-makers are supporting the Sweden-based duet. Diurnal Burdens honours one of our events with his organic noise machines and visuals, along with his mesmerising stage presence. Fairy Chimneys is the latest incarnation of Darren Adcock’s practice, featuring home-made synthesisers producing sounds ranging from imaginary soundscapes to punishing noise walls. And Jaydev Mistry improvises with dancer Joseph Lau in a collaborative act where Jaydev navigates his percussion and acoustic instruments through a cavernous journey of electronic processing while Joseph responds with fluid motions..
The event will also feature recordings by Jason Singh, Jon Panther, and Metanast’s own Manoli Moriaty.
Further to our music programme, Metanast is very excited to mark our first collaboration with the Partisan Collective, one of Manchester’s hardest working groups endeavouring to facilitate art spaces and positive action in developing the city’s emerging talent.
