Forbes & Grundy

Forbes & Grundy is a collaborative project between sound artist Adam Forbes and jazz musician George Grundy, focused upon creating improvised performances that respond to their experience of a place. Inspired by the writer Iain Sinclair and the sound recordist and Very Quiet Records label head Tony Whitehead, Forbes records field-recordings from walks around the urban-rural fringes of Greater Manchester, onto cassette tape in order to manipulate and collages live, which Grundy responds to through various percussion instruments. Grundy is a prominent drummer within the Manchester jazz scene collaborating with an array of artists, ranging from the contemporary jazz outfit- Bim Williams Trio, to the cross-discipline improvised performances with the Tryon Collective.
